I Literally Walked Through Fire

Many of you know my experience with fire. It’s had an incredible impact on my life in ways you might not expect. What you may not know is that I decided to write a book about the fire that changed my life forever—for the better.

I’m pleased to announce Beyond the Mask: How My Tragedy Sparked an Incredible Life: Lessons I Might Never Have Learned. I literally walked through fire to arrive at the lessons I might never have learned. Now I’d like to share them with you.

In the book, I tell the unvarnished, highly detailed account of the most terrible, shocking moment in my life. I explore how I confronted it, and how—against huge odds—I got beyond it. The often-excruciating and occasionally comical experiences gave me valuable insights I feel compelled to reveal.

One of the most important discoveries was realizing that everyone has a mask. Some are just less visible than my recovery mask was. I’m not talking about the COVID-19 kind of mask either. We all have metaphorical masks that we hope will protect us after a personal or professional setback. Instead, they can keep us from facing our challenges head on and testing our perseverance. They prevent us from building our confidence and preparing to overcome future hurdles.

Through my harrowing experience, you’ll learn:

– How to find resolve when a setback at work or in life may be preventing you from moving on.

– Why trusting your worldview helps you reclaim the power over your own choices.

– Why you must reach out in ways that defuse conflict, neutralize anxiety, and cultivate genuine connections.

Resiliency is a life skill and leadership quality everyone should cultivate. The challenges we face are powerful opportunities because they bring out the best or worst in us. I’d love to hear if my advice in this book brings out the best in you.
