My Brush with Fame

Have you ever been starstruck? I have—and quite recently. My brush with fame this summer happened in a way that I could never have anticipated. I guess that’s usually the case, which is why these surprising interactions are so exhilarating.

When you’re a new author like I am, getting feedback from people who read your book is overwhelming. The first thing that goes through your mind is complete gratitude. You’re so thankful that someone has cracked the cover you forget to ask if they even liked the book.

The feedback I received a few weeks ago about my story, Beyond the Mask, is anything but forgettable. My family’s been helping me spread the word since they’re so enthused about my new book. Through connections of his own, my son, Matt, knows Anthony Hopkins so he sent him a copy of the e-book when it was released in June. Shortly afterwards, I was stunned to learn Hopkins responded with glowing remarks.

Now that a knighted actor, director and producer has given my book a thumbs up, I can sit back, right? Hardly. Now the real work begins as I’m told by more seasoned authors. Speaking of work, hardcover sales begin Tuesday, July 7. So if you’re old school like I am and want to actually hold the book and dog ear the pages, visit my site and buy a copy for yourself, a friend…or an actor you know.

If you you’re new school, you can still download the e-book and read my harrowing story. And for those of you who are still on the fence, I’ve had a couple of interviews about Beyond the Mask via podcast. Check out some of the highlights on my News page.

Thanks in advance for letting me share my excitement and the latest update about the book. Hope you had a relaxing Fourth of July weekend with your families.
